Iron Cupcake Competition

Do you long for an opportunity to share your cupcake creations with others?! Meet like-minded people with as much passion for baking as you? To be given a chance to concoct something really special, concentrate your creative flare, and perhaps win a fabulous prize in the process? Well look no further than Iron Cupcake: Birmingham!

Every quarter Blue Door Bakery will host the world famous Iron Cupcake in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. This themed cupcake competition, will give all cupcake enthusiasts a chance to shine by designing and creating cupcakes they think represent the theme perfectly. For one night bakers will meet and compete to be crowned the winner!

If you’re more a fan of tasting than baking then come and sample what’s on offer by being one of our judges. There’ll be plenty to go round and you’ll be a big part of choosing our winner!

History of Iron Cupcake

The IronCupcake competitions were the creation of Sandy Ploy, Cupcake Queen in Milwaukee, Wisonsin, and Chef Jeff Reinke in April 2008. They both had a mutual interest in baking cupcakes using obscure ingredients, including steeped cigarettes, bacon and chilli pepper. When they challenged each other to a bake-off, using Wasabi as the main ingredient, the IronCupcake challenges were born!

How to enter

If you’re a baker, please arrive at the venue by 6.30pm.

If you’re a judge you’re welcome to arrive any time between 6.30 and 7pm. Be hungry!

Bakers please bring at least 12 cupcakes which are your interpretation of the theme for that challenge. YOU CAN ENTER UP TO 3 DIFFERENT SETS OF 12 CUPCAKES. Each of the sets of 12 cupcakes should share the same recipe for sponge/icing. There can be differences in the decoration but so that each of the 12 are judged fairly, it’s best to keep them as similar as possible.

Please bring a sign to display with your cupcakes, which includes the name of the cupcake and a description.

Tickets are £5 as a baker or a judge, please only attend if you have booked a ticket as places are limited!
