This class is a great starting point in making two tier cakes and gorgeous, full shaped, wired sugar roses. You’ll learn to make these show stopping roses, as well as splitting, preparing, covering, stacking and finishing your two tier cake in whatever colours you choose. Some experience of using florist paste and sugarpaste previously would be useful in this class. (Having attended a Start to Finish Class with us would be a good level of experience.) During the extended day you spend with us, (10.30am until about 5.30pm) we will…
- Learn to use florist paste to create and finish full ‘blown’ open, wired sugar roses.
- Cut, fill and prepare a round cake ready for covering.
- Perfectly cover a ‘dummy’ cake.
- Using sugarpaste to cover your fully prepared cake to achieve a professional, smooth finish and a sturdy base for the second tier.
- Preparing your cakes for stacking, dowelling and ensuring there won’t be any toppling cakes!
- Preparing and finishing a cake board for use.
- Fixing your wired sugar flowers to your cake in a food safe way, so that the wires aren’t in contact with the cake.
- A chance to have all of your baking questions, dilemmas and design questions answered by us from the benefit of our extensive cake experience!
You’ll create your finished base cake from sponge we baked earlier for you, and you’ll take everything you make home, including your covered dummy cake.
Our two tier cake classes are taught by Gemma or Laura.
